A little about me

I've spent more than 20 years working in accounts and business administration, including the last 10 years within the property management industry. I know how quickly the behind-the-scenes jobs can pile up when you're busy actually running the business.

I offer practical, reliable support without making things more complicated than they need to be. You'll deal directly with me, and I'll take the time to understand how your business works.

Straightforward pricing

$80 + GST per hour

Ongoing bookkeeping from $320 + GST per month

Every business is different, so we'll work out what support you actually need rather than trying to squeeze you into a one-size-fits-all package.

Frequently asked questions

It’s important to feel comfortable with who you trust to help behind the scenes of your business. Here are a few common questions about how I work and what you can expect — and you’re always welcome to get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Why outsource instead of employing someone?

For many small businesses, there’s plenty that needs doing behind the scenes — but not necessarily enough to justify another employee.

Employing someone involves much more than their hourly wage. There’s holiday and sick leave, KiwiSaver, ACC, equipment, software, office space, training and management time to consider. And naturally, not every paid hour in a normal working day is a productive one — research has put productive working time at around 60% of the day.

When you outsource, you’re paying for the support you actually need. If you need five hours of bookkeeping, you pay for five hours of actual bookkeeping — not a 20 or 40-hour working week to have someone available.

It also gives you flexibility. You might need more help at GST time, during a busy period or while you’re catching up, and less the following month. You can increase or reduce the support as your business changes without taking on the ongoing commitment of another employee.

In short, you get experienced help when you need it, without carrying the full cost of employing another staff member.

How do you keep my business information secure?

I understand that bookkeeping and business support involves access to sensitive and confidential information, and I take that responsibility seriously.

I use secure, professional business systems and appropriate access controls, and wherever possible I work through individual user access rather than sharing passwords or logins. Access is limited to what I need to complete the work you’ve asked me to do, and your business information is treated as confidential at all times.

Do I need to be using Xero?

Not at all. I’m a Xero Partner and work extensively with Xero, and I also have experience with MYOB — but I’m happy to learn and work with the systems your business already uses.

Whether you’ve already got a great system in place, need a bit of a tidy-up, or you’re ready to graduate from spreadsheets, paper records and the trusty shoebox of receipts, we can start from wherever you’re at. Every business works differently, and I’m not here to change things just for the sake of it — if something works well for you, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel.

Do I still need an accountant?

Usually, yes — we just do different things. I take care of the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial admin that keeps your accounts accurate and up to date, while your accountant generally looks after annual accounts and specialist tax or financial advice. I’m also happy to work directly with your accountant when needed.

What size businesses do you work with?

My services are designed primarily for sole traders and small businesses. You certainly don’t need to have a big operation — often it’s the smaller businesses where taking a few regular jobs off the owner’s plate can make the biggest difference.

Can you help if my books are behind or a bit of a mess?

Yes. And you definitely won’t be the first! Whether things have fallen behind, Xero hasn’t been reconciled for a while, or you simply aren’t confident everything is set up correctly, I can review where things are at and work out what needs to be done.

Can I use you for one-off work?

Yes. You don’t have to sign up for ongoing support. I can help with one-off projects, catch-up work, Xero setup or tidy-ups, as well as regular weekly or monthly bookkeeping and admin.

How much does it cost?

That depends on what you need. I offer hourly support for occasional or one-off work as well as regular monthly options for businesses wanting ongoing help. My Pricing page gives you a starting point, and I’ll always discuss costs with you before getting underway.

How do I know how many hours I'll need?

You don't need to know before you contact me. We can talk through what you’re currently doing, what’s taking up your time and what you'd like to hand over. From there, I can recommend a sensible place to start. We can always adjust things once we have a better idea of the actual workload.

Do you work remotely?

Yes. I’m based in New Zealand and work remotely with businesses throughout the country. With systems such as Xero and Microsoft 365, most bookkeeping and business admin can be handled securely without someone needing to be physically sitting in your office.

Will I lose control of my accounts or business admin?

Not at all. You decide what you want to hand over and what you want to keep doing yourself. We can also put approval processes in place — for example, I can prepare supplier payments for you while you retain final approval before any money leaves your account.

What happens when I get in touch?

The first step is simply a chat about your business, what’s currently happening behind the scenes and where you could use some help. There’s no obligation to go any further. If I think I can help, I’ll explain what I’d recommend and what it’s likely to cost before you make a decision.

Not sure exactly what you need? That's completely fine. Tell me a little about your business and what's taking up too much of your time, and we can work out whether I can help.
